Jessibels

The decibel is named in honour of the communications pioneer Alexander Graham Bell. Unfortunately, he had not come into aural contact with our new granddaughter.

The decibel scale’s logarithmic,
To cater for all sorts of sound
From leaves rustling quietly in forests
To aeroplanes flying around.

In today’s modern world, though, some noises
Are too loud to be measured in decibels,
So we’ve made a new scale for our granddaughter,
For Jessica’s yells are in jessibels.
