The sincerest form of flattery

Bryozoans are invertebrate, aquatic, filter-feeding animals. Most are colonial, with individuals forming a colony with a common support structure. One form is named after the “inventor” of the Archimedean screw.

Archimedes, without knowin’,
Copied what a bryozoan
Had invented many million years ago.
It would have thought, “That Greek
Has got a bloomin’ cheek –
Bryozoans did it first, I’ll have you know.”
